I'm just posting to say I hope you're following The Battle of the Kid's Books. They have their own website now and AN UNDEAD POLL. You get to help decide which book will return to plague the final contenders. Go check out the brackets.
Thanks folks, glad you guys will check it out. It was seriously so much fun last year and I love that this list includes books I know and love and ones I don't know at all.
I'm still thinking about the wolves from last week... (& thinking about Jon who asked what was scary about wolves). A few years ago I was hiking outside Jackson Hole & you should have seen the size of the wolf footprints. But they sounded cool. But they were close... One summer vacation as a kid I had a recurring nightmare about wolves and then someone showed up and kicked my family out b/c my father's check had bounced. Not so scary, but a bummer. My dad's bad mood before the eviction - was that the wolf? Tina, major apologies that I'm soooooo off topic.
Tina lives for off topic and I suppose wolves are scarier when you live where they live, but no wolves here not for hundreds of miles, like say Minnesota.
There's a small wolf refuge in MA that my nieces were disappointed I didn't want to visit. And a friend told me a non-happily-ever-after story about his husky that was 1/2 wolf. BUT... the movie Hoodwinked helped has descarify the wolf... And the howling outside Jackson Hole was stunning, but I was sleeping in tent.
Robert- I think the tent + howling thing would scare me too. And a 1/2 wolf story might scare me too if I knew it. Not sure I want to. Ahhh, solace in Hoodwinked. And perhaps in Shiver as well. There is some scariness I guess. It starts that way but that is not what is lingering.
I have an MFA in creative writing, an unpublished YA novel under my belt, and a second MG on the way. Click through the door below to write with me in The Practice Room (follow this link to read more about it). I post the schedule each Sunday - like clockwork. On the blog, I post whenever I like.
Cool, Tina! I'll check this out.
ReplyDeleteSuper! I've only read two of those, but I think the one I chose won't get many votes. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tina! On my way to check it out now.
ReplyDeleteHmm, intriguing. Haven't heard about this one. I'll check it out.

ReplyDeleteOkay, can I just say, I love it that we are back on wolves. Cannot get enough of the wolves! Even here in Minnesota where they all live.
