A Solstice Post
where I take up Odin's Runestones

In the Poetic Edda it is said that Odin sought the runes after seeing how the Norns carved them into the roots of Yggdrasil, the world tree, and wove the future. He hung from that tree for nine nights and gave himself in sacrifice to himself. His ordeal ended when the runes revealed themselves to him and he unlocked the abilities to heal, protect, pacify his enemies, and manipulate the weather. After mastering the powers, he then shared the knowledge with humankind through songs and poetry.
Here we are, traveling around the sun.
If you are a paid subscriber and have been using the Solstice and Equinox Journal Pages to write at seasonal sign posts, here is a link to the Summer Solstice post of 2025 where you can find past work sheets and the meditation I recorded last year. If you have never tried the worksheets before, summer is a great time to start!
Soak in the solar energy of this longest day and make future plans.
Spend some time setting intentions.
-What will you do for the 4th of July which is also 250 anniversary since the signing of the Declaration of Independence? Make art. Make song. Make it meaningful.
-How will you vote in the upcoming primary (August 11th)? Make a plan. Only about 20% of voters show up to vote in Primary Elections, so your vote will carry significantly more weight and do more in deciding the direction of your party. Many elections have been decided by just a handful of votes. The following links are in support of you making a plan to vote: If you live in Minnesota, here is a link to early voting information (there are various ways to vote and your earliest opportunity is June 26th). If you live elsewhere, here is the Secretaries of State Site to find out if you can vote.
-What are the other things you are balancing? Travel and family visits? Your own work and growth? Moving your body and getting outside? Dedicating time to community? Spend some time deciding what you will spend your time on and how you plan to do it. Let go of the things that are a waste of your time. (That can be easier said than done, but imagining it is the first step. And this sunny season is a powerful time to do that.)
What is a teacher but a wolf howling at the moon?
Announcement: My moon posts are taking a sabbatical until September.
In the meantime, I will be working on Yoga Poetry Radio and other projects.
The podcast publication has been confusing me for a while. I tried to move it over to Inner Troll Yoga School site, which was a mistake. Then I broke the link to Inner Troll Yoga on purpose while trying to fix the mess I had made. Now I will make time some to bring it back together.
Not sure how I will share new podcasts yet, but you will see them one way or the other. If you are particularly interested in them, let me know, and I will be sure to get them to you sooner rather than later.
