Welcome to the first quarter moon post. The light is growing, we are a week away from the full moon and only a quarter of the way into this third lunation of the newsletter.
When Becka and I first pulled mom aside on that Christmas trip long ago, I had high hopes about a kind of partnership we could create with her remaining years. Her immediate relief and complete openness about the difficulties she had been encountering, I believed that we would find a path with more joy.
And perhaps we did.
But that first year was a beast. Mom hadn’t retired yet, she still working and needing to track the people and things she tracked at work, while Becka, who was living near her, took on the role of helping her figure out what was going on with her brain. So began a series of appointments that were designed to do that.
