Hello, we have reached the new moon again. Another lunation has looped its way through our lives and the world is completely different once again. Here is my post from last month, including my intention to apply for a Humanities Legacy Grant. Which I submitted last night a little before the deadline at 11:59pm. Thanks to all of you out there who has listened to me talk about this and has helped me with the proposal in some way. Writing is a long arduous process, even when you love it.
The idea for the project came to me by way of good friend and friend of this newsletter Kara. I like to think it came in her dream because she called me early in the Sunday morning I was doing the dream workshop at Devanadi to tell me of the idea she had. She never said it, it just felt like it to me on the morning of that weekend that I was immersed in dreams. Her dreams have brought me gifts in the past. In fact, I have many people in my life where there dreams have been meaningful to me. And that is dreamlike in itself.
And so many others here have been a help as well. My sisters in Washington were integral in the idea forming when we spent time together. I needed my sister Karlene in order to think through the budget and her comments on drafts are always essential (Hi sweet dear sister, so much of my work is for you, always for you). So many helped me on drafts. Talking civics on walks. Working through names. Brainstorming over text. Making contacts for me. Just hearing me out again and again. Thank you all so much, this is truly a group process. So whatever the outcome, I have gained so much from all your energies 🙏🏼
I also learned so much in my googling and my research. I wouldn’t have found Breath of Life Theory (from my recent link post), without the time spent on civics, and Cindy Blackstock has much more to offer too. I found this YouTube lecture of hers to be so helpful in terms of thinking of colonialism on the body. I also have found Third Way Civics that feels so in line with what Inner Troll Yoga is all about. I’m sure I will share more as I go.
In the meantime, I will be taking it easy this lunation. I plan to pop on to let you know where the moon is in its orbit, but that is all that I will require of myself. So as you set yourself up for the weeks ahead, how will you do it? This is the darkest time of the year here in the northern hemisphere, in fact Winter Solstice is Thursday 12/21/23 when the longest night of all happens. Bring out the candles and the warm drinks. Bring out the cinnamon, turmeric, pepper, pippali, and ginger. Owls and porcupines come out at night.
I’m keeping it short today because I have lots of things that have been waiting until today because this weekend I was immersed in the writing
It’s new moon and always a good time to begin the series again, or come home as you wish.
Finally, here is a new Yoga Nidra Practice that I made for you, there are a couple of people out there that I was thinking of specifically. Thank you so much, I so value you in my life. Listen to relax and to sleep. Let me know how it works. As usual, I put it behind the paywall in a week.
Much love to all. This letter is dedicated to my sister Karlene.
