Discover more from Songs of Forgiveness
Between now and Summer Solstice (Tuesday June 21, 2022), a year’s subscription to Songs of Forgiveness and Yoga Poetry Radio is 50% off. The main benefit of a subscription is access to the full archives. And also the heart-expanding warmth of generosity as your help supports me as I develop this creation and grow my readership.
I have learned in the course of this writing process how much my interests revolve around time and ways that I study and understand time and how our relationship to time really impacts our relationship to our life. In grad school I wrote a paper on memory. I had read about a new study about how memories are rewritten each time they are brought to consciousness. When they are recalled, the new details are added to the old and that new product overwrites the original memory, so depending how many times you think on something, your memory can change and change and you never realize it. Memory is unreliable. That realization that time is slippery and we have no handle on it was compelling to me in 2000 when I first discovered ran across the article and I find it fascinating that it was processing Mom’s submersion into forgetting that brought me here. This playing with my understanding of time has finally brought me to yoga and meditation. It was the perfect practice. By bringing time to a halt, placing it fully under my attention, is the ultimate study and finally connected me to the missing link, my body. This integration of my writing interests with my meditation interests will continue here. My podcast episodes this past lunation has been using meditation to track the moon cycle and create a container for growth. Eventually I will lock that series and make it only available to paid subscribers. Find the 3rd meditation in the series here, or on your usual podcast platforms. It was just published this morning.
Maybe you recall that ways to mark time is what is central to the products in our Slideshow Sisters store. Our first product has been a moon journal. And as the year marches on, we are supplementing that with journal pages that mark the equinoxes and the solstices. Those are the four parts of our solar pattern that creates the junctions of the seasons and the perfect time to mark time’s passing. This newsletter sale is a nod to that and a celebration of summer and an offer to you free subscribers a discounted way to support this writing and sharing labor of mine.
Your support has already been invaluable to me. Your comments and engagement in my writing and perspectives has opened my eyes to how sharing this newsletter has value in ways I didn’t know and couldn’t imagine. This opening is unexpected and I have a lot of gratitude for that. I couldn’t do it on my own and in fact, though so much of this journey is necessarily solitary, I don’t want to.
More next week at the Third Quarter Moon.
Much love, Tina
